DIVING INFORMATION

For those underwater enthusiasts, the coral reefs of Zanzibar and it's archipelago of smaller islands provide an unimaginable underwater experience. In addition, sea creatures such as Rays, and small reef sharks can be seen on some nearby sand banks.

Another interesting dive site is a spot between Pange and Bawe island. This is where the wreck of the Great Northerner is located. She sunk in 1897 while laying the electrical cable from the mainlaind to Zanzibar. The wreck is not intact due to the duration it has been underwater.....more than 100 years! Clown fish inhabit the reef near this wreck.

Leven Bank at Nungwi, offers one of the most exuberating dives. Because of the proximity to the strong currents of the Pemba Channel, this spot is recommended only for the experienced diver. You are very likely to come across some giant Napoleon Wrasse in these waters.

Zanzibar has several Dive centres that rent out equipment, arrange excursions and even provide diving lessons for the inexperienced individual, eager to try out this underwater sport.

The next step now is to ask yourself....'Should I brave the charming crystal blue waters of Zanzibar for a once in a life time experience?'.......What do you think?..... I would say, JUMP INTO THAT WATER, forget all your worries and let the diving experience take control!

Well if you are ready to get yourself WET, then the next step is to contact the following dive centres for more information.
